Matthew Robert “Matt” Kelley, 24, of Pampa, passed away on January 1, 2018.
Celebration of Life services for Matt will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ruby Moultrie, pastor, and Pastor Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors.
Matt was born July 7, 1993 in Amarillo. He was a longtime resident of Pampa. He was a 2011 graduate of Pampa High School where he played varsity soccer and tennis, and was named All-District Honorable Mention in tennis as a freshman. After high school he went to work for Open Range Field Services before moving to Victoria where he was employed with Ganem and Kelly Surveyors for almost two years. Matt returned to Pampa where he worked for Open Range Engineering. Later he took a job with Open Range Field Services, where his work allowed him to travel to several different states working with a survey crew.
Matt loved the outdoors, especially being close to the ocean. When he was on the water, he enjoyed fishing, wake boarding, and water skiing, and Matt also loved to snowboard. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Michele and Kent Dyson of Pampa; his father and step-mother, Cliff and Robin Kelley of Pampa; three brothers, Mitchell Kelley of Lubbock, Kolton Dyson of Pampa, and Kade Morse of Denton; a sister, Leanne Dyson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandmother, Jean Muns of Pampa; grandfather, Alfred Kelley of Pampa; grandparents, R.H. and Betty Dyson; nanny, Katy Wilde of Pampa; five aunts and uncles, Cindy and David Wolken of Amarillo, Greg and Essie Muns of Fort Worth, Deena Fite, and Lee and Diane Waters, all of Pampa, and Mike and Jane Nipper of Houston.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bob Muns; his grandmother, Shirley Kelley; and an uncle, Kevin Muns.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church Benevolence Fund, PO Box 1981, Pampa, Texas 79066-1981 or The Frost Street Mission, 600 N. Frost, Pampa, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Friday, January 5, 2017 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
