Maud Pendergrass Minyard, 87, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, and Rev. Rick Parnell, retired Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Maud was born December 22, 1930 in Quail to Anson Carl “Skeet” and Gwennie Lou Long Pendergrass. She was a 1949 graduate of Quail High School. She loved to play basketball in school. Maud married J. B. Minyard on September 16, 1950 in Wellington. She had been a member of Central Baptist Church for 57 years. She loved to serve her Lord as a Children’s Sunday school teacher. Maud was involved in WMU and later served as Sunday school class secretary.
Maud was a faithful, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She was a very caring person to all, and she helped so many individuals as well as family. Maud set a Godly example by living her life through selfless devotion, sacrifice and service to others, and will be greatly missed.
Maud worked at JC Penney. She worked as church secretary at Central Baptist Church for 22 years, retiring in 2000. She did income tax in the evening for extra money so her children could be in extra activities in school.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Melba Nunnelley and Jean Parker; two sons-in-law, Randy Suttle and Jon Bender; and a great-grandson, Westley Thomas Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, J. B. Minyard of the home; four daughters, Christine Griffin, Wilda Joyce Bender, Louan Suttle, and Tammy Henthorn and husband Dean, all of Pampa; a son, Jimmy Minyard and wife Gina of Pampa; a brother, Tommy Pendergrass and wife Jo of Bridgeport; 12 grandchildren, Deon Bender and wife Aisling of Dubai UAE, Jessica Bender Kohl and husband Ben of Bennett, Colorado, Waylon Griffin and wife Caroline of Cary, North Carolina, Willie Griffin and wife Jeanie of Pampa, Anson Henthorn and wife Leandra of Canyon, Tamra Henthorn Turner and husband Greg of Wasilla, Alaska, Angela Henthorn Detten and husband Dustin of Coppell, Kaylee Suttle, Callie Coleman, Jared Minyard, all of Pampa, Brandie Coberley, and Sherie Minyard McClure and husband Travis of Amarillo; 17 great-grandchildren, Daphne Aguilar, Zoe, Evie, Haley and Braden Kohl, Aaliyah Torres, Hayden and Braylin Coleman, Sophie Griffin, Wyatt Griffin, Kylie and Conner Detten, Samuel Henthorn, Luke and Ethan Via, Paden Stewart and Ashley McClure; many nieces and nephews; and a very special family member, Kristy Hutchison-Stebens and family.
Maud will be available for viewing from 8:00 AM Wednesday, February 14, 2018 until service time.
The family requests gifts in Maud’s memory be made to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, Texas 79065.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
