Maurita “Dickie” Laman Stribling, 93, of Mobeetie, passed away, Tuesday December 15, 2020 in Pampa.
Private family services will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 18, 2020 at First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie with Rev. Tom “Bud” Stribling, son and retired Methodist minister, Rev. Rusty Early, pastor at First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie, and Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor at McLean-Heald Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will follow in Mobeetie Cemetery and will be open to the public. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Maurita was born on November 3, 1927 on the family farm in Mobeetie to Thomas and Hattie Bowers Laman. She graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1945 and attended Texas Tech University before returning home to help on the farm. Maurita married Clinton Stribling on July 18, 1948 in Mobeetie. He preceded her in death in 2009. She worked at Rives Insurance Agency before retiring after 30 years of service. Maurita was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie and the Old Mobeetie Jail Museum where she volunteered her time and service for many years. Maurita had a passion to aid in restoring the history at the museum. At the Meredith Place she enjoyed painting, playing bingo, and taking care of others. Maurita loved to sew and she made quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also known for her magical pecan pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Tom Laman, Jr.; a sister, Clevel Sluder; and a son Wayne Stribling in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Tom “Bud” Stribling and wife Debbie of Claude and Roy Stribling and wife Cindy of Elk City, Oklahoma; a daughter in law, Carol Chatham and husband Johnny of Pampa; eight grandchildren, Brandee Hamilton and husband Craig of Spur, Wesley Stribling and wife Anna of Rye, Colorado, Scotty Stribling and wife Shanna of Pampa, Seth Stribling and wife Candi of Pampa, Shane Stribling and wife Nicole of Wheeler, Natasha Stribling of Wheeler, Crystal Lister and husband Tyler of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Nikki Maddox of Elk, City, Oklahoma; 16 great-grandchildren, Cory Hamilton, Kelsy Stribling, Allee Hamilton, J. D. Hamilton, Collin Stribling, Stori Stribling, Saylor Stribling, Braydon Oxley, Creed Stribling, Savannah Stribling, Jaxon Lister, Lennon Lister, Cambrie Maddox, Larah Collins, Emma Stribling, and Quinten Stribling.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Meredith Place, Interim Hospice and Parkview Home Health of Wheeler.
