Melba "Suzy" Sirmans

November 29, 1949 — January 31, 2019

Melba “Suzy” Sirmans, 69, of Pampa, passed away January 31, 2019 in Amarillo.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at First Christian Church of Pampa, with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Happy, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Suzy was born November 29, 1949 in Pampa to Dorothy and Lester Newman. She attended and graduated school in Pampa where she was proud member of the Pampa High School Band, and outside of leaving Pampa to go to college, she had been a lifetime resident of Pampa and Miami. Suzy met the love of her life, Jackie Sirmans, while on horseback in Roberts County, and they later married on March 14, 1970 in Pampa at First Christian Church. She worked for many years on the family ranch before moving to Pampa, where she entered the Real Estate business, working for Caprock Title, Gray County Title and Martindale Law/Great Plains Abstract. Suzy was a longtime member of First Christian Church and the Lamplighter Sunday school class.

Suzy had a great appreciation for the country life. She was a passionate woman who loved all animals, especially horses, but what brought her the greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Survivors include her husband Jackie Sirmans of the home; two sons, Jim Sirmans and wife Rubie of Pampa and Joshua Sirmans and wife Alana of White Deer; a brother, Harold “Bub” Newman and wife Inge of Mesquite; two sisters, Willa “Joyce” Braziel of Kaufman and Jeanette Newman of Canadian; four granddaughters, Olivia Fox of Carlsbad, California, Alexandria Fox of Tucson, Arizona, Brookelyn Sirmans of Pampa, Juliana Sirmans of White Deer; four grandsons, Jeffrey Sirmans of Jacksonville, Florida, Samuel Fox of Pampa, William Sirmans of White Deer and Jaxson Sirmans of Pampa; one great grandson, Braxton Fox of Carlsbad, California; and other extended family.

Suzy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Phyllis Newman; a brother, Glen Newman; and a grandson, Jeremiah Fox.

Memorials may be made to Tralee Crisis Center, PO Box 2880, Pampa, Texas 79066-2880; or Good Samaritan Christian Services, 309 N. Ward Street, Pampa, Texas 79065.
