Melinda Cox

Melinda Cox, 60, of Pampa, passed away on January 24, 2018 in Amarillo. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Hobart Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Watson, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Melinda was born on August 1, 1957 in Borger to Wynell and Joe King. As a young girl she was raised in Amarillo where she attended local schools and graduated from Tascosa High School. After high school, she attended college and started her long career in retail services. Several years later she would meet the love of her life Raymond Cox, Jr. at a singles party and they would later wed on November 11, 1989. After their marriage, they would later locate to Pampa where they would start their family, having two sons. Raymond would precede her in death on August 8, 2016. Melinda had been a longtime employee at Walmart working in various positions and meeting and making many friends along the way. When her children were playing sports or had activities, she worked real hard to attend all those functions and she would continue to do her best to attend her grandchildren’s events. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved to bake cakes for all of the family and when she could she enjoyed attending craft shows with her family. When Melinda was not working she liked to travel to the mountains where she enjoyed riding four-wheelers and whenever she had the chance she loved taking cruises. The family would like to express gratitude to all the nurses of BSA and Harrington Cancer Center for all of their loving care of Mrs. Cox. Melinda will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Wynell and Joe King, and by her mother-in-law, Elna Mae Cox. Her survivors include two sons, Raymond Cox, III and Brandon Cox, both of Pampa; her two grandsons, Bryson and Cameron Cox, both of Pampa, her father-in-law, Raymond Cox, Sr. of Pampa, her brother-in-law, Mike Cox and wife Sherry of Pampa, her two nieces, Michelle Shedd and husband Logan and Jennifer Petroski, both of Pampa; her nephew, Jon Cox of Pampa, her three great-nieces, Ashton, Harper, and Madison, all of Pampa, and by her great-nephew, Christopher of Pampa and by numerous aunt, uncles, cousins and other extended family.Memorials may be made to Hobart Baptist Church, 1100 W.
