Michael “Mike” Reed, 72, of Pampa, formerly of Hart, passed away September 19, 2017 in Pampa. Memorial graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hart Cemetery in Hart, TX with Clint Shelton, his son-in-law, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mike was born on February 18, 1945 in Plainview to Clarice and Glyn Reed. Mike grew up and attended school in Hart graduating in the class of 63’. After graduating high school he enrolled in South Plains College and later he joined the U.S. National Guard Reserves. Mike was a born and raised farmer who worked alongside his father for many years on the family farm. Eventually his family would sell the family farm and he semi-retired but would help other farmer friends during harvest until his health no longer allowed it. A few years later, he would move to Pampa where he could be closer to his daughter and where he would make several friends. In his later years he loved to work in his garden, watch the Dallas Cowboys, and spoil his favorite dog, Moly. Above all Mike was a fighter, he had long and hard medical illness that took a lot of his physical abilities but it never ever took his will to live and thrive. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; by a sister, Karen Reed and by a brother-in-law, Frankie Walker. Survivors include his two daughters, Nikki Shelton and husband Clint of Pampa and Misty Schlake and husband Trent of Gothenburg, Nebraska; his two sisters, Gayle Johnson and husband Larry of Lubbock and Nancy Walker of Dallas; his three granddaughters, Aly Tatarevich of Amarillo, Summer Tatarevich of Pampa, and Bryn Schlake of Gothenburg, Nebraska; his grandson, Austin Schlake of Gothenburg, Nebraska; two nephews, Bryan Walker and wife Tiffany of Dallas and Kyle Johnson and wife Jeanna of Lubbock; a niece, Tiffany Walling and husband Drew of Dallas; mother of his daughters, Loretta Peck and husband Kevin of Gothenburg, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday September 20, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to PAWS, PO Box 2095, Pampa, Texas 79066-2095
