Mike Phillips, 77, of Skellytown, passed away October 3, 2019 in Pampa. There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mike was born December 17, 1941 in Mogadore, Ohio. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army. He moved to Pampa in 1978. Mike worked for Welex and was a deputy with the Gray County Sheriff’s Office. He also served as constable in Skellytown and Clarendon. Mike was a guard at the Jordan Unit for 10 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed horses and old westerns, especially John Wayne’s. Survivors include four daughters, Renata Phillips-Hankins and Romy Phillips, both of Akron, Ohio, Becky Blain of Pampa, and Shari McCann of Manitou Springs, Colorado; two sons, Rodger Phillips of Akron, Ohio, and Eddie Moss of Colorado Springs, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren, Rick Phillips, Sterling Hankins, Katrina Phillips, Christine Phillips, Tim Minter, Lisa Bogle, Keith Bogle, Jason Moss, Nicole Moss, Meghan McCann, Brandon McCann, Jacob Potter and John Travis; four brothers, Ray Phillips, Dave Phillips, Bob Phillips and Steve Phillips, all of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Kathleen Manning of Lillian, AL and Nancy Zarle of Akron, Ohio; and special friend, Sandra Taylor of Skellytown. Mike was preceded in death by a son, Richard Phillips, a daughter, Debbie Travis; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
