Mikki Sue Millsap was born December 22nd, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert and Marguerite Green. She was a 1965 graduate of McLean high school, then went on to achieve a bachelor’s of education from West Texas University. While attending college at West Texas she would meet the love of her life, Wavel Keith Millsap, as well as several other lifelong friends. On September the 7th, 1968 Mikki married Keith in McLean, Texas, and they recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.
Mikki and Keith lived many places throughout their time together. Everywhere they would go, Mikki was an inspiration, an educator, and a light to everyone who needed brightness in the dark. She believed with every fiber of her being that the answer to all problems was love and understanding. With that belief, Mikki Sue forged it into a way of life, a way of life she would carry with her through over 30 combined years of being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and educator. Mikki taught thousands of students over the years, from grade school to high school, and eventually inmates within the Texas correctional system. She led a bible school class at St. Paul's Methodist church and loved her ever growing family in Christ.
Mikki made family, the word friends can’t do justice. When Mikki invited a person into her home, she invited them to be family. Always an active part of the church and community anywhere she went, Mikki strove to make the world better through example and kindness. She spread hope, love, and kindness with an ever-overflowing cup. Even to those who could earn her ire, Mikki Sue preached; “Kill’em with kindness.” She would tell us all to remember to be polite and speak kindly no matter the case. She absolutely refused to entertain hate, calling it a “cancer of the soul.” Mikki loved music, children, laughter, and old westerns. She loved her husband and family most dearly, and she loved her God most of all.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Millsap of the home; two daughters, Joni Vanhouton and husband Curtis of Texas, and Meloni Meller and husband Roger of Pampa, Texas; a son, Len Millsap of the home; two grandsons, Phoenix Millsap and Kayden Smith of the home; five granddaughters, Erika Vanhouton of Texas, Kathryn Millsap of the home, Morgan Meller of Pampa, Texas, Erin Vanhouton of Texas ,Daphna Meller of Pampa, Texas; three half-granddaughters, Mia Sarabia of Pampa, Texas, Stephanie Sarabia of Pampa, Texas, Anna Sarabia of Pampa Texas; and numerous “nother kids” nieces, nephews, and extended family.
