Monta Sue King, amazing Mother, loving wife, doting grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother passed away March 1, 2021 at the age of 84.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Sue was born in Pampa to Roy and Flora Williams, where she grew up and graduated from Pampa High School in 1954. After high school she went on to Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technology in St. Louis, MO. She earned her certification and went on to work for a short while in Tennessee, before returning to Pampa to work. Sue married Danny King of Pampa, and raised their children, Steven (1958-1970), Sharon, Jenny, and Matthew. Long before and all during her roughly 45 years as a hard-working medical technologist for various doctors’ offices in Pampa, she was also a faithful, dedicated Christian. She served at First Christian Church as their organist, since she was 15 years old. She loved her music, her crossword puzzles, reuniting with her girlfriends for their girl-trips, and having her family all together, at home or at the lake. Sue has now joined Danny, Steve, and great-grandbaby Corbin in Heaven. The rest of us will miss her beyond words.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Hopkins and husband Marshall, Jenny King and Anthony Matheny, and Matthew King and Lindsay Manchester; grandchildren, Tiffany Florer and Devin Brown, Stephanie Mallick and husband Christopher, K’lyn Mack and husband Ethan, Hailee Kaake and husband Dylan, Gage King, Britton King, and Brayden Conner; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Florer, Isabella Mallick, Oakley King, Booker Mallick, Woodrow Mack, and McCrae Kaake.
