Nelda Beth Crouch Johnson

Nelda Beth Crouch Johnson, 83, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away December 2, 2019 in Amarillo.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Keith Feerer, minister, and Glen Walton, Church of Christ minister, officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Nelda was born April 14, 1936 in Canadian to Emma and James Crouch.  As a young girl her family came to Pampa where she attended schools and graduated from Pampa High School. After high school, she enrolled into Cosmetology school and she worked as a cosmetologist for several years before starting her family.

She met the love of her life, Joe E. Johnson, and they married on October 15, 1966 in Pampa.  Nelda was a very active member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, and she and Joe were involved in caring for any ill church members.  He preceded her in death on January 16, 2019. 

Nelda enjoyed working with all crafts, especially painting.  She also liked to fish and cook for all her friends and family.  What brought her greatest joy was supporting and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include a son, Brad Johnson and wife Lori of Amarillo; a daughter, Beth Chlad and husband Jason of Colleyville; three grandsons, Blake Johnson and Logan Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Brayden Chlad of Colleyville; two nieces, Marsha Matthews and husband Gary of Seminole, and Candy Thompson of Pampa; a nephew, Kirt Crouch of St. Louis, Missouri; and by her favorite companion, her dog Boots Johnson. 

Nelda was also preceded in death by her parents; an unborn grandchild; and brother, James Stinson Crouch. 

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Heartis of Amarillo and Texas Home Health Hospice for their care of Nelda.
