Orvil Williams

Orvil Williams, 94, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Pampa.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 23, 2023 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Rick Parnell, retired Baptist minister. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Orvil was born November 4, 1928 in Lela, Texas to George and Mary Williams. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served two years. He served in the Korean Conflict and made the rank of SGT. On June 5, 1951, he married the love of his life, Billie Trayler. They were married 72 years before she passed away on August 17, 2023. Orvil worked at Cabot from 1954 until he retired in 1971. They lived in several towns before settling in Pampa in the late 80’s. The two of them loved to travel in their RV, and almost made all 50 states. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Orvil was funny with his grandkids, singing and dancing with them. He was an avid Texas Ranger fan and a long-time member of Central Baptist Church.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Pam Benton; three sisters, Audrey , Ruby, and Georgia; two brothers, Elmer and Lawrence.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Mark Benton and wife Jami; grandchildren include Paige Gaines and husband Audie, and Grant Benton; great-grandchildren include, Scarlett Olivia-Claire Benton, Karter Kain Salinaz, Audie Jo-Lynn Gaines, and Navy Channing Gaines; brother, Bill Williams;  nieces, Leslie Wells and husband Rodney, Tammy Quick, and Mary Quick; nephews, Brycie Williams and wife Judy and Don Alexander and wife Beverly; great-nieces, Ashley Willett (children Breken and Colby) and Shelby Brown; a great-nephew, Juston Williams; and many other amazing friends and family members.
