Patricia Delores Daugherty

February 25, 1930 — June 20, 2019

Patricia Delores Daugherty, 89, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday June 20, 2019 in Amarillo.

Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 24, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson of First Baptist Church, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Patricia was born on February 25, 1930 in Amarillo to Erma and Lee Butler, Jr., where she was raised and attended schools. She graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University.  Patricia met the love of her life, Frank Daugherty whom she met on a blind date, and they would later wed in 1949. The couple started their married life together in Hoover, TX and eventually retired on a Farm in Gray County where they earned their names “Papa and Granny at the Farm.” They spent 61 years together before he preceded her in death in 2011. After college, she worked in banking and administration which included employment with Bentley dress shop, Heard-Jones Drug and Amarillo National Bank as a bank teller. She worked along the side of Frank in the family cattle and farming operation for many years.  After retiring Patricia became a passionate volunteer for Pampa Regional Medical Center where her light shined as a servant.

She was her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan and attended all sporting events and dance recitals. She gave of herself in so many ways to her grandchildren with her time when she would take them for long weekends on the farm which included eating all the Coney’s they could eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and uncooked cookie dough for dessert.  Nightly baths and brushing your teeth were not mandatory while visiting the farm. However, voluntary dips in the stock tank were permitted.  She let them be kids while under her watch. She often offered to fill the gaps for her grandchildren to provide the resources to take private lessons, buy a costume, or pay for extra schooling or coaching when they were young.  Whatever they needed or even at times wanted, she was the generous donator. She wanted to see her children and grandchildren succeed in their passions and interests in life and encouraged them to do so.  In her spare time, Patricia enjoyed playing video games with the grandchildren, reading mystery novels and watching mystery movies. You could not beat her in the infamous Nintendo Mario Brothers game and would often beat the game itself. She loved a good game of Life or King Oil.  Her and Papa taught all their grandchildren how to play dominos and the card game Twenty-One.  Lastly, she argumentatively was the best Driver’s Ed teacher they ever had. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be missed even more by her youngest great-grandkids, who will remember her home with the endless cookie stash, toys and games galore, and the unforgettable smile and hugs that greeted their little hearts. Hudson will forever carry the memories of weekly filling her bird feeder and taking out her trash. She was a jewel to all that knew her.

The family would like to offer a sincere gratitude to Ginger Ferris, Bonita Milligan, Natalie Arriola, and Alice Damron that offered their patient, kind, and gentle care for Patricia for the past couple of years. The family is forever grateful to you all.

Survivors include a son, Dan Daugherty and wife Donna of Pampa; a daughter, Cathy Scribner of Pampa; two grandsons, Michael Daugherty and wife Shauna of Lemoore, California, and Garrett Scribner and wife Carisa of Pampa; two granddaughters, Misty LeBlanc and husband Toby and Lindsay Hudson and husband Matt, all of Pampa; eight great-grandchildren, Hudson Scribner, Hope Scribner, Tate LeBlanc, Cy LeBlanc, Hagen Hudson, Stran Hudson, Stockton Hudson, and Nathan Daugherty; and by a cousin, Carolyn Johnston and husband Dale of Amarillo, and other extended family.
