Patricia Kay Urban was born on July 12th, 1954 in Trinidad, Colorado to James and Dorothy Urban. As the second oldest of five siblings and the only living girl, she perfected her maternal instincts at an early age. In high school, she excelled at home economics, including winning an award from Crisco. Her table settings were even featured in BRIDE'S magazine. She met the love of her life, Forest Plunk, at the age of 17. He came into the restaurant where she worked and was so enamored by the lovely waitress that he ordered a chocolate pizza and a tuna fish milkshake to make her laugh. The rest is history.
In her early years of marriage and life with two young children, Patty enjoyed going on RV family caravans, fishing, and water skiing. She also loved to snow ski. Throughout the kids' school years, she was an active participant in school organizations and community outreach programs. She was always the biggest supporter of her children. She also worked for many years as an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Ralph Depee.
In later years when she became an empty nester, Patty finally took the opportunity to travel. She went on cruises in the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, and Europe as well as trips to Hawaii, Rome and the Holy Lands. And who would believe that her favorite spectator sport was NASCAR. She once spent a month in NYC seeing the sights and shows with a close friend while Forest was working. She said it was a trip of a lifetime. She and Forest also managed to tour all four corners of the Continental US, much of the time with the Corvette top down.
Patty was a pillar of the St. Vincent's Catholic community for 41 years. She served on both Women's and Parish Council, taught Faith Formation, and sang as a cantor and member of the choir. She also served on the Board of the Pampa Pregnancy center.
Patty was a beloved wife, mother, Grammy, sister, daughter, and friend. She was also a force of nature. She fought a fierce battle with cancer, but God decided it was time to welcome her home.
Patty was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Dorothy Urban, as well as her sister Ann and her brother John.
She is survived by her husband, Forest, her children, Michael and his wife Jennifer Plunk, and Lacy and her husband David Schill, her much loved grandchildren, Everett, Jackson, Meryn and Sydney, her brothers Bob, Gary, and Larry Urban as well as her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Patty asked for donations to be made to the Pampa Pregnancy Support Center, 210 N Ward, Pampa, Texas, 79065. https://pampapregnancycenter.com/donate/
