Peggie Sue (Starr) Paronto

Peggie Sue (Starr) Paronto, 84, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Brian Thomas, pastor of Harvest Bible Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Peggie was born to Lawrence and Maggie Starr in Clovis, New Mexico on March 10, 1933. She graduated from Lefors High School in Lefors, Texas in 1951.  She married Lawrence Edwin Paronto on December 28, 1952, and they shared a fruitful, active life full of love, travel, and partnership for more than 53 years until Lawrence passed away in October 2006.   Peggie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church; Peggie’s life was marked by kindness, her sharp sense of humor, and love and dedication to her family. She was a Pampa resident for more than 64 years and was a well-known and active member of the community.  She and Lawrence were co-owners of Pampa-based B & L Tank Trucks for many years and she participated in numerous community and volunteer organizations throughout her life including the Petroleum Engineers Wife’s Association (PEWS), she was active in Tots in Training, and the Pampa High School Harvester’s Booster Club.  Her hobbies included reading, gardening, playing cards, and entertaining friends and family. Peggie was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence P. and Maggie Lee Starr, her brothers Harold Starr and Billy Starr, her infant daughter Linda Sue, and her husband Lawrence Edwin Paronto. Survivors include her daughter Tanga Bailey and husband Tim of Amarillo, her son Tyson Paronto and wife Stephanie of Pampa, granddaughter Selina Taylor and husband Pete of Chicago, grandson JT Hood of Amarillo, granddaughter Lee Ingram and husband Willis of Amarillo, granddaughter Ashlyn Paronto of Pampa, grandsons Bryson and Greyson Paronto both of Pampa, and great-grandchildren Madelyn and Harrison Ingram of Amarillo and Maggie, Bridget, and Tess Taylor of Chicago. Memorials may be made to a local charity of your choice.
