Philip Raymond Kimbley, 83, of San Antonio passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 in San Antonio.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The family asks that anyone attending the service to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Philip was born on January 7, 1938 in Lefors to Harold and Mary Parker Kimbley. He attended school in Lefors and graduated from Lefors High School in 1956. Philip attended college at West Texas State University. He married the love of his life, Dottie Rightsell, on March 7, 1958 in Pampa. They made their home in Pampa for several years before moving to San Antonio in 1986. Philip was a member and past President of the Pampa Jaycees and was a lifetime benefactor of The National Rifle Association.
He was a loving husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. One of his grandsons describes him as the kind of man that every man should strive to be. The kind of man that was true to his word and you knew without a shadow of a doubt that he loved you. He was also known for the kind of hugs that he gave. One his granddaughters best describes them as the kind where he would put pressure right in the middle of your back and they were the best hugs because the harder he pressed the more you felt the love he had for you. Outside of his love and dedication to his family, Philip loved to travel. Especially to the mountains of Colorado.
Philip was preceded in death by parents, and 2 sisters, Gene Fletcher and Thelma Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie Kimbley of the home; 2 children, Terri Hemphill and husband David of Pearland and Gary Kimbley and wife Christy of Amarillo; 1 brother, Dick Kimbley and wife Florence of Pampa; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Hemphill and wife Andrea, Stephen Hemphill and wife Amanda, Ryann Kimbley, and Dru Kimbley; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua Hemphill and Hailey Hemphill; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
