Quannah Faye Smith

Quannah Faye Smith, 71, of Miami, passed away September 17, 2020 at her home in Miami.

Celebration of Life memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the United Methodist Church of Miami with Pastor Gene Hudgins, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Quannah was born on January 23, 1949 in British Guiana. As a toddler, she came back to the states to live with her family in Pampa. She attended Pampa schools and graduated from the class of ’67. After her graduation, she traveled to various cities in the U.S and she also resided in Germany for brief time. She returned to school and enrolled in college and graduated with a master’s in graphic design. She later returned to Panhandle and that is where she would meet the love of her life, Monty Smith and they married on June 13, 2014 in Miami. Quannah worked in various industries and served in many roles that included being a jailer for Gray County, and a clerk for several different Motel and Hotel chains.

She was an incredibly talented woman who had many different artistic interests that included: dancing, painting, and drawing. Native American history was interesting to her and she studied it extensively. But what was most important to Quannah was all her animals and family and she love them all immensely. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Quannah was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Weldon Bullard; birth parents, Doris May Houston and Miron Emmett Jenkins; by her beloved daughter, Heather Kirston Ballard; and by two sisters, Kathryn Smith and Doris Walker.

Her survivors include her husband of the home, Monty Smith; 4 sisters, Mary Parr of Ponder, Martha Butler and husband Ken of Wheeler, Patti Weatherall and husband Tommy of Canton, and Georgia Aufleger and husband Johnny of Pampa; 3 brothers, Gary Jenkins and wife Donna of Livingston, Rick Bullard and wife Debbie of Pampa, and Bill Bullard and wife Becky of Denton; son, Joey Aufleger of Pampa; and a grandson, Cutter Aufleger of Pampa; a brother-in-law, Randy Smith and wife Tara of Nashville, TN; 30 nieces and nephews; and 30 great-nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
