Rafael Martinez

Rafael Martinez, 64, of Memphis passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Pampa.

Viewing will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Rafael was born on March 25, 1955 in Tampico, Mexico to Rafael and Juana delfina Morales Martinez. He married Santos Castillo in Tampico in September of 1995. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2021. Rafael gained 5 children after getting married and he cared for them like his own. The family moved to Memphis in 1999. Rafael enjoyed watching TV, fixing old cars, working outside, and eating seafood. He was an amazing grandfather.

Rafael was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister, Soledad Hernandez.

He is survived by his 7 children, Shoemy Martinez of Pampa, Jose Luis Martinez and Reynaldo Mellado, both of Mexico, Leticia Corona of Jarrell, Guadalupe Diaz of Pampa, Hector Mellado of Georgetown, and Julio Martinez of Amarillo; 5 siblings, Jose Luis Martinez, Adela Martinez, Rosa Maria Pineiro, Nicolas Orosco, and Guillermina Hernandez; 23 grandchildren, Eliseo Esteban, Jose Martinez, Jazmine Mellado, Giselle Mellado, Yvette Mellado, Melanie Mellado, Edward Mellado, John Mellado, Cynthia Mellado, Fransisco Diaz, Jr., Nancy Diaz, Lizbette Diaz, Aaron Diaz, Breanna Martinez, Yajaira Martinez, Jenessa Martinez, Juliassa Martinez, Jaylene Martinez, Cindy Sosa, Elizabeth Sosa, Paola Sosa, Karla Corona, and Camila Corona; and 8 great-grandchildren, Alexis Diaz, Nathalia Diaz, Elvin Tinajero, Adilene Tinajero, Vincent Mellado, Mateo Magdaleno, Nathaniel Sosa, and Vianney Sosa.
