Randy Lynn Ruth, 62, of Skellytown passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Pampa.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Skellytown with Rev. Carter Pirtle, pastor, and Rev. Gary Metz, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Crowley, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Randy was born on March 10, 1958 in Wichita Falls to Jim and Mable Fox Ruth. He attended school in White Deer before joining the United States Marine Corp in 1975. Randy graduated in 1976 from Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan. He married Marcy Ledford on December 26, 1980 in White Deer. Randy liked to talk and would talk to just about anyone that would listen. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s games, looking at new cars, and working cattle. Randy loved the Dallas Cowboys and raised his children to love them too. He worked as a pumper in the oilfield for 37 years. He recently started taking road trips with his sons after they started their own trucking company. Randy was proud of having served as a city councilman and then as mayor of Skellytown from 2007 to 2011. However, he was most proud of serving his country as a Marine. Randy enjoyed visiting with the Skellytown Braintrust while the rest of them drank coffee, he was always the youngest one there. He loved his family, especially his grandbabies. Randy will be remembered as a good man with a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Richard Williams.
Randy is survived by his wife, Marcy Ruth of the home; his mother, Mable Ruth of Borger; 4 children, Nick Ruth and wife Kendra Marie of Pampa, Tori Ruth of Amarillo, Mark Ruth and Zack Ruth and wife Kendra Don all of Skellytown; 3 siblings, Bobbie Jo Wright and husband Alan of Wichita Falls, Gary Metz and wife Terri of Crowley, and Susan Hennessey of Skellytown; 8 grandchildren, Madison Bolch, Evan Myers, Logan Ruth, Kale Ruth, Aubrey Ruth (Princess), Brady Ruth, Bentley Ruth, and one on the way, Lukas Ruth; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1657, 105 S Cuyler St, Pampa, TX, or the Skellytown Braintrust in the form of coffee.
