Raymond E. Barrett, 90, of Pampa passed away on December 8, 2020 in Pampa.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.  A private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.  The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website.

Raymond was born December 31, 1929 in Pampa to Ben and Allie Barrett.  He graduated from Pampa High School in 1948.  After high school he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1950-1954.  Raymond married Dorothy Dixon at the First Presbyterian Church in Pampa on December 16, 1950; they would have been married 70 years next week. He returned back to Pampa and began his lifelong career of farming.  He has been a long-time member of First Baptist Church.  Raymond volunteered for many years at Meals on Wheels and served on the board for several years.  He also volunteered at the food bank.  Raymond was a faithful donor to Coffee Memorial Blood Bank and in 2005 he was Blood Donor of the Year.  In his younger years he was an avid water skier and loved to teach his family.  He was an accomplished carpenter, building a lot of the furniture that is currently in their home.  He was a hard worker at everything he was involved in and loved his family dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Reford, Paul, Floyd, and Chuck; sisters, Pauline, Cleo, Gladys, and Doris; his daughter, Leigh Barrett Anderson; and a grandson, Jarod Allen Barrett.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of the home; son, David “Hondo” Barrett of Pampa; 2 daughters, Susie Birtell and husband Don of Borger and Becky McGaughy and husband Tim of Amarillo; son-in-law, David Anderson of Pleasanton; 10 grandchildren, Emily Anguiano and husband Michael of Pampa, Dawna Irving and husband Josh of Amarillo, Dayna Huffington and husband Mark of Abilene, Aaron Birtell and wife Perla of San Antonio, Megan Campbell and husband Aris of Dallas, David McGaughy and wife Melissa of Boise City, Oklahoma, Mekala McGaughy and friend Michael Brown of Gig Harbor, Washington, John McGaughy of Amarillo, Dane Anderson and wife Amber of Pleasanton, and Brian Anderson and wife Lacey of Pleasanton and 20 great grandchildren.

Memorials can be sent to Meals on Wheels, 302 E. Foster, Pampa, Texas 79065.

The family would like to thank Maria Copado for her daily love and care of Raymond.
