Reta Beth Cook Chumbley, 80, died Thursday, July 13, 2017, in Pampa.Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 17, 2017, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Weatherly, pastor, and Rev. Kyle Collins, associate pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Prairie Dell Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Chumbley was born May 21, 1937 in Canadian. She married Thomas Earl Chumbley on April 28, 1956 in Hemphill County. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2006. Reta had been a resident of Pampa since 1968. She was active in the Women’s Mission Union, which was her first love in church work. She felt like a Christian influence is a spiritual gift given to every Christian and her belief was “I pray that I have had the potential to sway others from obstinate unbelief.” Reta enjoyed working in the yard and quilting, which was a wonderful pastime. Survivors include two sons, Terry Wayne Chumbley and wife Dana, and Todd Allen Chumbley and wife Cheryl, all of Pampa; a daughter, Deena Gayle Hart and husband Jim of Pampa; a brother, David Claude Cook and wife Sandie of Canadian; a sister, Ada Leen Whitener of Woodstock, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Tracy Wood and husband Bill of Mascoutah, Illinois, Tara Terry and husband Seth of Modesto, California, Kira Rose and husband Matt of Edmond, Oklahoma, Annie Chumbley of Dallas, Tori Chumbley of Irving, Chase Chumbley, Cole Chumbley and Holly, Emily Hart, and Kaitlyn Hart, all of Pampa; and nine great grandchildren.
