Rev. Fred C. Palmer, Jr., 82, of Pampa passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021 in Pampa.

Services are pending at this time. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Fred was born on March 31, 1939 in Pampa to Fred and Callie Palmer. He attended schools in Pampa and Corpus Christi, graduating in Corpus Christi. Soon after high school, Fred attended Wayland Baptist University for a few years. Over the years, he pastored several churches from Colorado to Texas. He began his ministry in Denver, Colorado and then moved to Cortez, Colorado. Later he made his way to Perryton and then eventually Pampa. He was the founder of Carpenter’s Church and pastored there for over 35 years.

Outside of the church, Fred held a few other jobs around town. He worked at as postal deliveryman for a time and owned a furniture clinic. Fred was an artist when it came to handcrafting furniture pieces. He could restore anything, no matter how broken or deteriorated it was. Fred was very proud of his work and took it seriously. He was a kind, sweet man, and had a caring spirit. He took care of others and did all he could to help those in need. Fred and Edna spent the last six years together happily married in Pampa.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Fred Palmer.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of the home; a daughter, Sherry Poston and husband Jeff of Aubrey; two sons, Rodger Palmer and wife Feliz, and Wesley Palmer and wife Brenda, all of Cortez, Colorado; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many devoted friends, especially those of the congregation of Carpenter’s Church.

Edna wishes to thank all their loyal friends and loved ones who have stood in constant support of them through this time.
