Robert Beadle, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Richard was born October 15, 1955 in Shreveport to Arnold and Ernestine Bartel. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1973, he attended LSU in Shreveport to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration and then earned his Master of Divinity degree in 1988 from SWBTS.  Richard married Colleen Kelly on July 30, 1983 in Shreveport.

Richard began his ministry in 1984 in Texas with his first church in Mingus for four years.  He then served at Macon Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant for six years, Bunavista Baptist Church in Borger for three years, and in 1997 became involved and on staff in the pastoral ministry at Calvary Baptist Church.  His hobbies included his love of cars and he was currently restoring his 1964 Impala.  He was an LSU fan.  Richard enjoyed all types of music, and the X-Files tv show.  For the last several years, he worked with BSA Hospice of the Southwest as a chaplain, and truly loved that ministry.  Family time was important to Richard, and he was always there for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen Bartel of the home; two daughters, Rachel Bridges and husband Steven, and Rebekah Bartel and fiancé Seth Starbuck, all of Pampa; a sister, Cheryl Forester and husband Dr. Jonathan Forester of Pineville, Louisiana; a grandson, Lucas Bridges; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
