Richard A. “Dick” Kuehl, 94, of Booker, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, in Perryton.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Booker United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Richards, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 3:30 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Viewing will be 9:00 AM, Thursday, at the church prior to the services.
Dick was born August, 28, 1923 in Burkburnett to August and Jewel Kuehl and was a 1941 graduate of Pampa High School. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corps in March of 1943 where he was a telephone and telegraph lineman in the Asiatic Pacific. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946 with a rank of Staff Sergeant. After his discharge, Dick married his sweetheart, Melva Crouch, on May 16, 1946 in Pampa. He was an electrician for Northern Natural Gas for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. Dick enjoyed nature, especially fishing on a lake or hunting in the fields. His pride and joy was his family but mostly the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was always a smile on his face when they were around. He was a member of Booker United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; 2 sons, Brian “Scooter” Kuehl of Pampa and Ricky Kuehl and wife Rita of Amarillo; a daughter, Lindsey Johnson and husband Joe of Perryton; a sister, Mary Jean Mitchell and husband Jay; 6 grandchildren, Kari Jo Carnes and husband Rodney, Lori Beth Brillhart, Melissa Shannon and husband Scott, Linzi Kuehl, Chad Johnson and wife Kelsey, and Justin Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren, Bayley and Braxton Carnes and Jett, Tinley, and Graham Johnson.
Mr. Kuehl was preceded in death by a son, Byron Kuehl.
