Richard Shay, 81, of Pampa, passed away on December 9, 2019 in Pampa.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2019 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Randy Parsley officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Shay was born October 26, 1938 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Harry and Bessie Shay. He attended schools in Cheyenne before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1959. Richard moved to Pampa in 1961 and has made Pampa his home ever since. He married Georgia Davis on March 18, 1962 in Pampa. Over the years Richard worked as a truck driver for various companies in Pampa including the City of Pampa. He retired in 2003 from the City of Pampa after 11 years of service. He always enjoyed working and in his free time he enjoyed reading, watching old westerns, and playing solitaire. He loved his family dearly and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, a half-brother, and a daughter, Deborah Shay.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of the home; his son, Richard Shay and wife Tricia of Panhandle; 2 grandchildren, Hunter Shay and Katanna Shay and their mother, Peggy Doyle all of Pampa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219.
