Riemer Richard (Pete) Gores, 92, of Pampa, Texas went to be with his Lord and his beloved wife Senora on this Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Pampa.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at White Deer Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of Community Crossroads Church in White Deer, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. The family asks that those attending service to wear a mask.
Mr. Gores was born March 13, 1928 at the Gores Ranch north of White Deer, Texas. He was born into two pioneer ranching families, father, John Morris Gores and mother, Emma Riemer Gores. He was the ninth of ten children and attended school in White Deer. Mr. Gores was sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, stationed on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He was the radio man on the observation plane, so if the plane was in the air, he had to be on it. He later was a journeyman ironworker, owned a Ford dealership in Fowler, Colorado, and sold real estate in California. He moved back to the panhandle in March of 1996 where he made his home in Pampa. After moving to Pampa, he bought and sold houses and "Cream Puff Cars". Mr. Gores was very active in "AA". He had been sober since July 30, 1972. Mr. Gores spread the word of Christ in everyday life and at Christian ministries in prisons and jails. He helped those in need. Mr. Gores was a very talented musician. He played the piano, guitar, and violin, and was a regular at the Woody Guthrie Folk Music Center Friday night jam sessions. He played his guitar and sang. Some of his favorites were Frankie and Johnny and Lucille and Swinging Doors.
Mr. Gores was preceded in death by his wife, Senora Gores; daughter, Nancy Junion; parents John and Emma Gores; five sisters: Ida Cotter, Katherine Lewis, Pauline Goss, Louise West, Carla Black; and four brothers: John Gores, Charlie Gores, James Gores and Melvin Gores.
He is survived by one daughter Carla Suzanne Gonzales and husband Troy of Chandler, Arizona; two grandsons: Troy Gonzales Jr. and Garret Gonzales of Chandler, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
