Robert Gene Benyshek, 85, of Pampa passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2020 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Stevens, pastor, and Rev. Ruby Moultrie of First United Methodist Church of Levelland, assisting. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Robert Gene Benyshek was born in Cuba, Kansas on September 22, 1934 to Steven and Olive Trecek Benyshek. He graduated from Cuba High School then attended college at Kansas State University and McPherson College, where he met the love of his life. Robert married Barbara Maul on July 27, 1958 at the Church of Brethren in Pampa. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Sill.
Robert worked in the oil and gas industry for Skelly, Getty, and Texaco then for Parker and Parsons as a consultant. He retired after 23 years and went into ranching, which was his passion. Robert was an active part of his community; he was involved in the Top O’ Texas Rodeo and the Roping Club. Robert was a lifetime API member, served on the Museum board, Kiwanis board and served numerous committees in the First United Methodist Church of Pampa. Robert had several hobbies which included restoring antique cars & trucks, hunting, and woodworking. Robert will be remembered as great family man who never met a stranger.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Meredith Place and Interim Hospice for their loving care of Robert.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eldon.
He survived by his wife Barbara; daughter, Regina Jordan and husband Hank; son, Rob Benyshek and wife Katrina; two grandchildren, Kirsten Rodriguez and husband Xavier and Ryan Benyshek; three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Noah, and Lucas Rodriguez; by a brother, Steve Benyshek of Cuba, Kansas; special niece, Lisa Hudson and husband Darren; and adopted grandchildren, Nate Hudson and wife Kate and Haley Hudson; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
