Robert "Bob" McDowell, 83, of McLean, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in McLean.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Bob was born on September 4, 1938 in McLean to Joe Wesley McDowell and Duella Mae Mann McDowell. He graduated from McLean High School in 1957. After graduation Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on January 23, 1958. He proudly served his country for six years before being discharged on January 22, 1964. Bob worked as a communications technician for the Tradewinds Airport in Amarillo for a short time before starting his career in the oilfield. He worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 30 years before his retirement. During his retirement Bob enjoyed spending his days woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wesley McDowell; his mother, Duella Mae Beverly; his stepfather, R.A. Beverly; and one granddaughter, Victoria McDowell.
Bob is survived by his two children, Wendy Durbin of Allen and Kevin McDowell and wife Mimi of Amarillo; his sister, Sandra Jo Morris of Logan, New Mexico; five grandchildren, LeSandra Botello, Jessica Smith and husband Coty, Madison Garrett Spring and husband Matthew, Lauren Alexandra Durbin, and Grant Durbin; two great-grandchildren, Cohen Smith, Ari Smith, and one on the way.
