Chico Ramirez

Rodolfo “Chico” Ramirez, 82, of Pampa, passed away on December 28, 2024, in Pampa, with his family by his side.

A Rosary service will be recited on 5:00 PM, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. 

An inurnment graveside will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Guadalupe Mayorga of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Chico will be available for viewing starting at 2:00 PM, Tuesday and until 8:00 PM.

Chico was born on March 24, 1942, in Amarillo to Leopoldo and Santos Ramirez. He attended and graduated from school in Pampa and was a lifelong resident. Chico would meet his true love, Elizabeth “Liz” Salinas and they married on March 21, 1964, in Pampa, and they shared 60 years and had three children before his passing. 

Chico started work as a young boy when he began his paper route at the age of eight years old at the Pampa News. He continued working for the publication throughout his whole life and retired as the composing room supervisor in 2019. When not at work, Chico was a giving man who gave a lot of his time with youth sports where he helped coach baseball and softball. He was the true patriarch of his family, and he made sure all of his family’s needs were always met. He led by example and showed unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Chico will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodolfo Ramirez, Jr.; a brother; and by three sisters.

Chico is survived by his wife, Liz Ramirez of the home; two sons, Andrew Ramirez, and Leo Ramirez; granddaughters, Kaitlynn Ramirez, Averniee Ramirez, Abrianna Ramirez, and Veronica Ramirez; grandsons, Korbin Ramirez, Zachariah Ramirez, Avryn Ramirez, and Thiago Ramirez; nine greatgrandchildren; and other extended family.
