Ronald Lea Smith, 85, of Groom, passed away June 15, 2018 in Pampa.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Smith was born March 29, 1933 in Pushmataha, Oklahoma to Rebecca and Emmett Forest Smith, Sr. As a young boy, his family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he completed his education. After high school Ronald entered the workforce, working as a unionized mill worker and later working as a structural engineer for 25 years. After the construction business, he would share his time for the past twenty years, owning his own bar and as a commercial truck driver. Ronald was a man of many interests. He loved music, especially playing the guitar. He was an avid fly fisherman, had his private pilot license, and was an excellent wood worker. Ronald will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Smith; three sons, Paul Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, John R. Smith and wife Sheila of Midland, and Bryan Smith and wife Kimberly of Sacramento, California; by two brothers, Emmett Forest Smith, Jr., of Peculiar, Missouri and George Smith of Florence, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Knute Smith; and two sons, Gregory Westmoreland Smith and Roger Lea Smith.
