Ronnie Parker, 82, of Pampa, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, retired pastor, and Pastor Alan Speed, interim pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Viewing for Ronnie will be held from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 and from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Ronnie was born on December 18, 1940 in Healdton, Oklahoma to Jack Parker and Mary Parker Layman. He grew up all over the country before his family settled in Wichita Falls. Ronnie was a 1961 graduate of Wichita Falls High. After graduating, Ronnie began working at Sherwin-Williams. He moved to Hereford where he met the love of his life, Melissa Frisbie. They were married on March 9, 1974 in Amarillo. They made their home in Hereford until they moved to Pampa in 1976. After moving to Pampa, Ronnie worked at White House Lumber before owning Home Builder Supply with Melissa. In 1990, Ronnie started his career with Walmart, working in the hardware section. He was affectionally referred to as Mr. Walmart by many of the people he met at work. Ronnie worked at Walmart until his retirement in 2015.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church from 1976 to 1990 then transferred his membership to the Faith Christian Church for four years. He was later a member of the First Christian Church for 10 years where he served as a deacon. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. Ronnie was also a member of Kiwanis while he lived in Wichita Falls and after moving to Pampa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, doing yard work, listening to gospel music, and reading his bible. He was strong in his faith and a devoted to his family.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Parker and Mary Parker Layman; his stepfather, Orville Layman; one brother, Edwin Layman; and one daughter, Michaelyn Rose Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Parker of the home; two daughters, China Wells and husband Reed of Centennial, Colorado and Kazia Ferguson and husband Brooks of Brock; two grandchildren, Ally and Shelby Ferguson of Brock; one sister, Nony Layman of Lawrence, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Saundra Curry; special cousins, Carol Ann O’Neill, Robert Parker, and Richard Parker; two nieces, Melissa and Becky; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Highland Baptist Church, 1301 N Banks, Pampa, Texas, 79065.
