Rubye Winegeart Davis passed away on August 30, 2022 in Princeton, West Virginia.
Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Rick Parnell, a retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Rubye’s services will be live streamed through the funeral home’s website.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the funeral home.
She was born to Shelton David and Ruth (Ferguson) Winegeart on December 22, 1924 in Wellington, Texas.
Her first husband, Roy Dale Andrews, was killed in action in Europe during World War II. Later, Rubye attended Wayland Baptist College and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Texas Tech University.
In 1947 she married Austin Ruddick in Borger, Texas. Their 4 children are: Roena, Lorie, Randy and Jana. That union ended in divorce.
In 1973 Rubye and Earl Davis were married and enjoyed 17 years before his death.
Rubye was a career teacher and taught almost 30 years at Baker Elementary and Travis Elementary in Pampa. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education from West Texas A & M.
She loved the Lord and served faithfully many years at Central Baptist Church as Sunday School Teacher, a Choir Member and as a member of the Handbell Ringing Group. Rubye enjoyed being part of a singing group of ladies called the “Put-Ons.” They performed for many groups in the Texas Panhandle.
After retiring from teaching, Rubye enjoyed several years of travel. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. Family was very important to her, and she relished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for several years. Rubye’s life wasn’t always easy, but her faith in God, music, and her sense of humor helped her through rough times.
Mother spent the last five years of her life at Stonerise (Glenwood), Princeton, WV. The family appreciates the care and concern shown for her there.
Rubye was preceded in death by her parents (S.D. and Ruth Winegeart) and brothers Billy Winegeart, Murl Winegeart, and Bufford Winegeart, as well as her husband, Earl Davis.
She is survived by daughter, Roena Halbur (Powell, WY), daughter, Lorie South (Princeton, WV), son, Randy (Paula) Ruddick (Thornton, CO), and daughter, Jana (Allan) Thompson (Princeton,WV); her nine grandchildren are, Nathan South, Shiann South, Jered South, Krishna (Petar) Mrakovcic, Justin (Erin) Stone, Melissa (Cortney) Thompson, Jana (Dan Simonson) Stone, Joel Thompson, and Ryan (Sarah) Thompson.; a beloved and devoted niece, Meloney (Richard) Dyer; great-grandchildren are, Shelton South, Garrett (Emily) South, Parker South, Brant South, Emily Grace South, Maycee Thompson, Adalynn Thompson, Kensley Stone, Cooper Stone, and Niko Mrakovcic; great-great grandchildren are, Travis Daniel Nance and Hallie Renee South.
