Rusty was born on June 16, 1969 in Pampa to Gene and Marilyn Pool Ferguson. He attended B.M. Baker Elementary School before moving to Briscoe, where he graduated in 1988. He then attended the Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno, Oklahoma for two years. He began working as an autobody mechanic for McCain’s Autobody in Wheeler, where he worked for nine years. During his time in Wheeler he also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department. He was a truck driver for Reliant for many years before working in the pipeline industry. At the time of his passing, he worked as a maintenance technician for Walmart, and he was truly a jack of all trades. Rusty loved fishing, hunting, working cattle, riding horses, and spending time in the mountains. He was incredibly hard-headed. He was a supportive brother and a proud uncle. During the summers he mowed yards for those that were no longer able to. He was a generous and kindhearted soul. He wanted to help everyone and would give the shirt off his back if they needed it.
Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Ferguson; stepmother, Rhonda Ferguson; paternal grandparents, Orvel and Billie Ferguson; and maternal grandparents Beuron and Frankie Stevens.
Survivors include his father, Gene Ferguson and wife Vicki of Wheeler; brother, Ty Ferguson and wife Christi of Twitty; 2 sisters, Mandy Meadows and husband Mark of Briscoe and Stacey Booth and husband Steve of Fritch; 3 nieces, Tatum Meadows, MiKayleigh Ferguson, and Sidney Mills; 5 nephews, Landry Meadows, Barrett Meadows, Landon Ferguson, Quintin Mills, and Colton Saavedra; and numerous friends.
