Ruth Ann McKinney

Ruth Ann McKinney, 86, of Pampa, passed away, Monday, November 2, 2020.

Graveside Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery with Rick Pearson, associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Ruth was born June 1, 1934 in Custer County, Oklahoma to Ivan and Clara Northrip. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Stafford High School in Oklahoma. In 1956 she graduated from Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City as a registered nurse. She married Jim McKinney on November 9, 1957 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.  He preceded her in death on July 13, 2008.   She then worked at Highland General Hospital as well as Coronado Community Hospital/Pampa Regional Medical Center until she retired in 1996 after 40 years of service.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She took them with her every summer to help her while she volunteered at Pampa Meals on Wheels, which she really enjoyed.  She was immensely proud to be part of the Nurse’s Health Study contributing to healthcare research.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers, and a grandson Austin Rodgers

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Presson and husband Kim of Pampa and Sandra McKinney of Grand Prairie; two sons, James I. McKinney and Stephen McKinney and wife Denise all of Pampa; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
