Salvador Villagomez

Salvador Villagomez, 93, of White Deer, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Hrudaya Raju Kondamudi, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Salvador was born on December 31, 1931 in Uriangato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Manuel Villagomez and Ana Maria Padilla Villagomez. He came to White Deer in the 1950’s with the Bracero Program to work for Raymond Blodgett Farms. Salvador fell in love with White Deer and decided to stay and make it his home. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he helped with many church activities and festivals including the yearly Polish Sausage Dinner. Salvador married Manuela Acosta in July of 1973 in Groom. He went to work for the City of White Deer in 1980 as a multi-skill utilities technician. He was instrumental in laying all the upgraded gas and water lines throughout the city as well as digging out the landfill. Salvador was also a volunteer firefighter for the City of White Deer. Salvador retired from his city position in 1997. During his retirement, he enjoyed raising sheep and goats, working in his yard, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family.

Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Ana Maria Villagomez; and his wife, Manuela Villagomez.

He is survived by his children, Cris Villagomez, Nelly Villagomez and wife Judy, Maria Teresa Villagomez, Aurora Villagomez, Azucena Villagomez, Salvador Villagomez, Josefa Villagomez, Araceli Villagomez, Margarita Villagomez, three siblings; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the White Deer Volunteer Fire Department, 207 S Omohundro St, White Deer, Texas, 79097.
