Samuel "Sam" Lee Bowers

December 14, 1974 — July 12, 2018

Samuel “Sam” Lee Bowers, 43, of Miami passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Miami.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at United Methodist Church of Miami with Rev. Anthony Inman, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dumas, and Rev. Lewis Holland, retired Methodist minister, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Sam was born December 14, 1974 in Pampa, TX to Jimmy & Emma Bowers. Sam graduated from Miami High School in 1993, where he excelled in golf and enjoyed playing for the MHS band. He grew up learning to farm with his dad, and mentor Steve Martin. He also had a passion for cooking. He loved cooking so much that he started working at the Pampa Country Club, followed by the Sirloin Stockade, and then in 1994 he went out on his own and opened up “Sammy B’s Grill.” Then in 2015 he and his sister, Susan Bowers, opened up “The Rafter B Cafe” and ran a successful business for 3 years, and then once again returned to farming and continued to farm until his last days. Some of his other passions were spending quality time with the three he loved the most, his mom, sister, and dog Sparky. He was also one of the best pool players around, loved the competition, and a good time had by all. You could find Sam always having a good time with friends, and always seemed to be the guy making everyone around him laugh. His personality was infectious, and he will be missed and loved by many, and remembered by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Bowers, both sets of grandparents, Sam & Esther Bowers, and Samuel & Addie Marie Wheless.

Survivors include, his mother Emma Bowers of Miami; his sister, Susan Bowers of Miami; his dog, Sparky; his nephew, Chico, and many close friends and family.

Memorials may be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th St., Canadian, Texas 79014 or Roberts County Museum in Miami.
