Sandra Palmitier Waters, a long-time resident and active community supporter of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, at her home in Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Keith Feerer of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Sandra was born in Amarillo in 1940 to Franklin and Floy Palmitier. The family moved to Pampa in 1941, where Sandra lived most of her life, graduating from Pampa High School in 1959. She worked as a legal secretary for Waters, Holt, Fields & Waters for 38 years, as well as working for the M.K. Brown Foundation. She was active with the White Deer Land Museum and the Clean Pampa Foundation. She worked extensively in support of the successful community campaign to convince the state to locate the Jordan Unit near Pampa in 1990.
Sandra was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa for almost 40 years. In 2007, Sandra moved to Killeen, Texas, to be closer to her family, and then later to Austin.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill W. Waters, and her parents, Floy & Franklin Palmitier and a brother Franklin Palmitier, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Julianna and Marc Gilbert of Austin; her grandchildren, Katharine Begnoche of Houston, Braden Gilbert and Madeline Gilbert of Austin; and her brother, Larry Palmitier of Denver, Colorado.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the funeral home from 6:00-7:00PM.
