Shawnell Duran Touchstone was born on May 31,1970 to Bobby Sr. and Marilyn Touchstone in Galveston, Texas. After graduating from Waco High School in 1988, Shawn accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.
Shawn had an immense love for music and would become the founder of the rap group, Duo GSI. Shawn opened and performed in numerous, sold out, shows in front of large crowds. Shawn also enjoyed coaching and went on to coach in every sport except for baseball.
In 1997, Shawn met Tia, through his now sister-in-law, Yolanda Brown and then co-worker, TaWanna Degrate. Shawn was given a phone number and after conversing on the phone for eight months, Shawn was finally introduced to his now wife, Tia. Their love would separate for a short time, but God led them back together. Shawn and Tia have now been each other's best friends for 24 years, soul mates for 17 and happily married for 12 wonderful, eventful, and fun filled years. Shawn and Tia went on and had two beautiful, talented, and charismatic daughters, Teagan and Tatum Touchstone.
Shawn was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Teagan, Tatum, and Tia and always tried his best to support them. Anyone who knew Shawn knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
Shawn is preceded by his mother and father, Marilyn Sellars and Bobby Touchstone, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Rev. G.B. and Mary Booker; his uncle, Ronald Booker; his son, Deon Touchstone Love; and his paternal grandmother, Mattie Shaw.
Shawnell is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Tia Murry Touchstone; their eight children, Teagan and Tatum Touchstone of Pampa, Olivia Wiley and husband Matthew of Dallas, Shawn Touchstone Love of Waco, KeShawn Touchstone of Monroe, Louisiana, KeAiria Touchstone of Grambling, Louisiana, Kadejah Hampton and Ashton Love of Waco; two granddaughters, Da'Niya and Tahiry Love; five brothers, Bobby Touchstone Jr. and wife Katherine, Dyron Touchstone and wife Jennifer, Jerome Touchstone and wife Judy, Larry Stout and Harrold Daniels; two aunts, Debra O'Neal and Evelyn Johnson; an uncle, Donald Booker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins will be left to mourn him, but all will carry on in his behalf.
