Shirley Lee Husted, 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022, at home.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2022 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Vondel Stevens, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Shirley was born February 24, 1938, in Groom, Texas, to Jean and Alberta Bell Craver Quirk. In the first grade, she met Bobby Husted, the love of her life. They graduated from Groom High School together and married on June 7, 1958. The two celebrated 62 years of marriage before Bobby passed away on August 15, 2020.
Shirley lived in Texas until the fall of 2021, when she moved to Edmond. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, Shirley lived in Amarillo, Saginaw, Longview, and Irving, Texas.
Shirley had a strong work ethic in each job she held. In her young adult life, she worked as a jewelry store clerk and secretary before her daughters were born, and then later worked as an assistant manager at a craft store in Irving.
Shirley enjoyed cooking, collecting, and sharing recipes. Some of her other hobbies included sewing, crafting, playing the piano, and yard work. Shirley loved playing cards and dominoes, where all those who played with her witnessed her competitive spirit. Shirley attended countless ball games of her daughters and grandchildren, no matter the weather conditions.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Shari and Robert Mallory, Lori and Zane Weiss, and Carla and Gene Stewart; her grandchildren: Dustin and wife Emily Mallory, Wesley Weiss and wife Brandy, Cody Weiss and wife Sarah, Geoffrey Weiss and wife Reagan, Clayton Stewart and fiancee Brittany Forsyth, Sydney Stewart, and Griffin Stewart; and her great grandchildren: Jaxson, Jada, Alexander, Lucie, and Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tom Quirk, John Quirk, Jack Quirk, and Jerry Quirk, and sisters Georgia Jean Turner, Evelyn Ollinger and Mary Baggerman, and brother-in-law Leonard Husted and his wife Cleta Husted.
