Shirley Jo Langwell, 80, of Levelland, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 in Lubbock.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2020 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Chris Driver, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Shirley was born on June 7, 1939 in Tatum to Lonnie and Vivian Miller Singleteary. She resided in Pampa for 31 years before marrying J. B. Langwell on July 13, 1970 in Juarez, Mexico. Shirley and J. B. returned to Pampa in 1998, and then she moved to Levelland after J. B.’s death in 2008. She worked as an LVN at Pampa Nursing Center for 13 years.
Shirley was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a past member of the Early Risers Lions Club in Littlefield. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Farkle, and Monopoly. Shirley liked putting together puzzles and taking long car rides. She loved spending time with her family and telling stories. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She would do anything for her family. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her wisdom, and her sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a son, Howard Dean Hughes Jr.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Janie Simpson and husband Buddy, Crystal Roberts, and Misty Roberts, all of Levelland, and Sharon Alford and husband Norris of Weatherford; sister, Jackie Denham of Pampa; brother, Lonnie Singleteary Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; cousins, John Watson and Eddie and wife Betty Reames, all of Pampa; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
