Shirley McKnight

Shirley McKnight, 83 of Pampa passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 in Pampa.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 20, 2019 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with her son-in-law, Gary Wisdom, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. McKnight was born June 16, 1935 in Claremore, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Lefors High School in 1953 and went on to attend North Texas State University and graduated from West Texas State University with her bachelor’s and master’s in education. Shirley married Loyd McKnight on January 15, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on April 14, 2008.  She taught English, Speech, and Business at Lefors High School for almost 30 years before retiring.  Shirley loved to travel and was an avid reader.  She also loved spending time at Lake Greenbelt with her family.  Shirley was a loving daughter, wife, mom, and mamaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Darwin Teeters and Junior Teeters; and a daughter, Michele McKnight in 2009.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Wisdom and husband Gary of Pampa; 12 grandchildren including, Codi Fowler and husband Cory and Shelby Poynor and husband Brian; and 9 great grandchildren.
