Shirley Lee Powell, 89, of Pampa, passed peacefully the morning of March 23, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Viewing will be from 3:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, 8:00 am- 8:00 pm on Tuesday, and 8:00 am – 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
She was born on March 24, 1935, in Hollis, OK to Bertha Lee True Allison and Jacob Place Allison. She was loved and raised by her mother and her Daddy, Ivie Elder. Shirley attended Borger High School and married Charles Neil Powell on April 21, 1951. She was the manager of Shoeland in Borger, Texas. They lived in Borger until the early 70’s before moving to Pampa and establishing Hi-Plains Printing. Shirley worked side by side with Charles for 20+ years.
Shirley liked crafts, casinos, and woodworking. She was known for her immaculate house, perfect hair and delicious dressing. She loved family gatherings with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers-in-law.
Those left to celebrate her life are daughter, Vickie Morton and husband Rudy of Amarillo; son, Tommy Powell of Borger; grandchildren, Christina McGeorge and husband Roland of Broken Arrow, Ok, Jeremy Powell and wife Felicia of Clarendon, Shawna Hennig and husband Billy of Kelton, Marc Maule of Slaton, TX, Dustin Powell of Borger, Shannon Dillehay and husband Ed of Amarillo; great-grandchildren, Charmayne Hampton of Shamrock, Chantelle Blair and husband Zach of Amarillo, Cheyenne Pruett and husband Richard of Sanger, TX, Jacob Maule and wife Kelly of Lubbock, Brett Hennig and wife Erykah of Clarendon, and Stacey Hennig of Kelton; great-great-grandchildren, Dakota Blair, Lane Hennig, Sterling Pruett, and Jayce Maule with two more little ones on the way; two sisters, Jane Belt, and Linda Everson of Pampa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Ware of Amarillo for their kindness and loving care.
