Sid Talley, 89, of Miami, passed from this world Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his home.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Miami, with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Happy, and Rev. Roy Keith, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Miami, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Sid was born April 2, 1928 in Roberts County to John and Dena Talley. He married the love of his life, Betty Ruth Brewer on February 8, 1948 in Mobeetie. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2015. Sid cowboyed, worked in the feed mill business, operated ranches and was a much loved resident of Roberts County.
He attended the First Baptist and the Methodist Churches, serving our Lord from the age of 20. He was an active member of the Lions Club for over 50 years. Sid volunteered at the fire department for 17 years and served on the City Council of Miami.
He is also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeffna McKinney and husband Kermit of Marietta, OK; a son, Joe Talley of Miami; three grandchildren, Chase McKinney, Reese Talley, and Trinity Chambers and husband Kevin; and two great grandchildren, Ryan and Callie Chambers.
