Standley Schneider, 86, of Pampa, passed away on January 16, 2024, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jarrod Neal of First Methodist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Schneider was born September 3, 1937, in Lubbock to Doctor Valerie and Dorothy Schneider. Standley graduated high school from Frenship High School, after graduating he attended the Department of Public Safety Law Enforcement Academy, Amarillo College, and later Clarendon College. Standley began his career as a Texas DPS trooper in 1958 and thereafter moved to Pampa to work as a Highway Patrolman. He would later meet Linnie Sutton and they married on January 14, 1964, and she would precede him in death on November 27, 2008. In 1967, he went to work for Celanese Chemical Company and retired from Celanese in 1996.
Mr. Schneider was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist and served many years in the Facility Team Office and he was current member of the First Methodist Church of Pampa. He was an endowed member of the Masonic Lodge #966, Order of the Eastern Star # 65, an Endowed Charter Member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, life member of the Pampa Rifle & Pistol club, life member of the Texas State Rifle Association, and a Benefactor life member of the National Rifle Association. Standley enjoyed playing Bridge, fishing, hunting, shooting, camping, and reloading ammunition.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Linnie; one daughter, Cindy Bilberry, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Dancer; a sister; and three brothers.
Standley is survived by children, Tim Gage and wife Monica of Georgetown, Dana Dancer of Borger, Jammie Pucket and husband Authur of Cleburne; two brothers, Frank Schneider and wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Leland Schneider and wife Gail of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Methodist Church of Pampa P.O. Box 1981 Pampa, TX 79065.
