Thelmus “Ray” Dunn, 77, of Borger and formerly of Pampa, passed away January 14, 2019 in Amarillo.
Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Evangelist Mildred Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Dunn was born October 29, 1941 in Pampa. He attended Carver High School and after high school, he moved to Clarendon to work for his family on the farm for eight years. Ray returned to Pampa in the 1960’s and began working for Marcum Motors for many years before working for Trollinger’s filling station until they closed. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching old westerns and WWE. When he was younger, he played and coached baseball. Ray could play dominoes all day long and was very good. He loved the local rodeos and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. Ray was a member of Open Door Church of God in Christ in Pampa, and had been attending New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Borger.
Survivors include the love of his life, Patsy Fanis of Borger; five daughters, Jacqueline Bolton and husband Stanley of Amarillo, LaWanda Gulley and husband Kevin Wynn of Borger, CharlesEtta Harris of Amarillo, Cassandra Burns of Pampa, and Rosland Dunn of Arlington; two sons, Simeon Dunn and wife Deborah of Amarillo, and Leroy Williams of Andrews; a brother, Ronald Dunn of Amarillo; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Thelmus and Alice Dunn; three sisters, Helen Dunn, Laura Jernigan and Josephine Payne; three brothers, Donald Dunn, John Henry Dunn and Charlie Gene Dunn; and two sons, James Ray Dunn and Ivan LaShane Dunn.
