Thomas Cantrell “Cat” Nash, 87, of Pampa passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. A.J. Taylor, pastor of New Horizon Community Fellowship Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Cat was born December 2, 1930 to Joe and Mamie Ruth and was reared in east Texas. He was one of four children, Bob, Lou and Pat.
Tom, being the most intelligent and obviously better looking of the siblings, he joined the Air Force and served from 1951 to 1954, stationed for a time in south Mississippi. It is widely known and accepted that the motion picture Biloxi Blues is loosely based on his time there. He lived a fabulous bachelor life for forty years before he was sentenced to life without parole under Doris Elaine Cummings Nash. They had one amazing daughter, Janice Elaine Nash Berry, who even though was lavished with everything she possibly could hope or imagine for while growing up never really amounted to anything. Cat retired after 29 laborious years at Northern Natural Gas.
Cat spent his retirement years as the mayoral provost of Nelson Street, chief lawnmower for the neighborhood, and live-in manservant of Doris.
He is survived by his lovely bride, Doris Nash; 2 brothers, Pat Nash and Bob Nash; two step children and their children; Jeanne Horton and Darryl Burney, Zach, Shannon, and Brandi; four grandchildren, Madie, Wes, Mamie, and Millie Berry; and one daughter whose life was almost crushed this past Sunday morning and even in that short amount of time has realized she will carry with her an empty spot in her heart until her last day...a spot that could only be filled by her daddy.
