Thomas “Tom” Howard Lockhart, Jr., 86, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Ben Corbitt and Dan Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Tom was born November 3, 1936 in Amarillo to Thomas and Margaret Lockhart. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1955 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University. His degree was used in his career as most of his jobs involved working in human resources. Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1962. At an early age, he was baptized in the First Baptist Church where he was a longtime member.
Tom was a generous man who had a passion for supporting groups and organizations such as 4H in Gray county and Lipscomb county, area stock shows, and several churches in Pampa. He also donated items and financially gave to the White Deer Land Museum, Heal the City project in Amarillo, and Pampa Senior Citizens Center. Tom admired and appreciated the first responders such as Pampa Firefighters Association and Texas State Troopers in the Pampa area. He was easy to predict, as Tom had a daily routine, and very rarely did he change from it. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching FBI and Blue Bloods tv series. Tom had a small family, but many friends who cherished him and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, C.H. and Elizabeth Kenison Lockhart.
Survivors include his brother, Bill Lockhart and wife Laura of Prosper; and a niece, Logan Lockhart and husband Brad Stennerson of Norman, Oklahoma.
Memorials can be sent to a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
There will be a reception after the funeral service at The Harbor Community Event Center, 708 N. Hobart, Pampa, Texas immediately following the burial.
