Tommy Joe Henson, 68, of Pampa, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his home.

Celebration of life services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Jim Sinyard, Pastor at Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Tommy was born March 9, 1950 to Otis and Annie Henson in McAlester, OK. He graduated from White Deer High School. He learned to play guitar from watching American Bandstand, and loved all forms of music throughout his life. During the 80s, Mr. Henson owned Henson’s Guitars & Amps in Pampa. He was a guitarist, bassist and vocalist in the local bands Wolf Creek Mining Company and Tyme, among many others. For the last eight years of his life, he performed and sang in the evenings at Grannie’s Café. He was a member at Carpenter’s Church.

He is survived by his son, Chris Henson and wife Maya of Plano; his daughter, Tamara Finnegan and husband Michael of Albuquerque; his brother, Otis Henson and wife Cathy of Pampa; his niece Lori Perry and husband Bryan of Pampa, his significant other, Helen Willingham of Pampa; Tamara’s three children Bradyn, Alexander and Rafael; and Lori’s son Bryan Junior.

Memorials may be made to Carpenter’s Church, 639 Barnes St., Pampa, TX, 79065.

There will be a visitation, Friday June 8, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
