Troy Leon Hester, 89, of Pampa, passed away June 2, 2019 in Canyon.
Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Central Baptist Church, with Pastor Norman Rushing, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Hester was born April 23, 1930 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Albert and Florence Hester. He graduated from Hominy High School in 1949. After high school, he enlisted with the National Guard and later served in the Korean Conflict with the U. S. Army, honorably discharged in 1953. Troy married Betty Ann Gladden on January 23, 1953 in Hominy. They made their home in Pampa in 1957. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2005. He began his career in Tulsa before transferring to Pampa to begin his work with Cabot, retiring in 1992.
On April 15, 2006, Troy married June Hardin in Pampa. He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. After he retired, Troy enjoyed going to his shop and working on small wood projects. He loved yard work and being outdoors. Troy loved being around people and always had a smile.
Survivors include his wife, June Hester of Lewisville; a son, Troy L. Hester and wife Brenda of Austin; a daughter, Tonya Smith and husband Randall of Happy; a sister, Mae Sears of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great great granddaughter. Troy was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
