 Our “Matriarch” Verda Imogene McMinn, 98, of Pampa, was reunited with her beloved husband and sons on Friday, September 13, 2024.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Pampa on 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2024, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory of Pampa. 

The memorial service will be through the funeral home’s website. 

Imogene will be available for viewing from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, September 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 311 Choctaw Rd in Fritch, Texas.

Imogene was born on March 9, 1926, to Bertie (Stamps) and William Benton “W.B.” Conway in Childress, Texas. She married Floyd W. McMinn on October 25, 1942, in Altus, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two sons, Billy Dean on December 25, 1944, and Mark Allan on July 15, 1961. They lived in Childress until moving to Lefors in 1961 and to Pampa in 1985.While in Lefors, she and Floyd owned and operated the Floyd McMinn Oilfield Construction & Pipeline, Inc. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and member of First Baptist Church. They moved to Pampa in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pampa. 

She was a founding mother for the special needs in Texas Public Schools to be streamlined with having a class for all special needs. She was the main founder of the Gray County Association for Retarded Citizens for Pampa Sheltered Workshop which opened in 1983. She was the longest living member of GCARC Board where she served as past president.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd; her precious sons, Billy Dean and Mark Allan; her parents; brother, Raymond Conway; two sisters, Annas Conway Jones, Edna Conway Belt, great-great granddaughter, Sky McMinn; and nephew/son, Jerry Conway.

Those left to cherish her memory and carry on the McMinn Legacy are her special daughter-in-law, Wilma McMinn of Fritch, Texas; two grandsons, Chris and wife Connie McMinn of Balko, Oklahoma, and Clint and wife Traci McMinn of Fritch; seven great-grandsons, Coty McMinn of Oklahoma City, Tyler and wife Kaylee McMinn of Yukon, Okla., Kyle McMinn and wife Michelle of Mustang, Okla., Ryan McMinn of Beaver, Okla., Travis Williams of Tennesse Colony, Texas, Seth McMinn and wife Lillie of Wichita Falls and Sean McMinn and wife Halle of Borger; three great-granddaughters, Samantha and husband Ralph Gonzalez of Perryton, Cheyenne and husband Tyler Moon of Guymon, Okla., and Sara and husband Carson Spitler of Amarillo; eight great-great grandsons, Kayce and Sloan Gonzalez of Perryton; Charlie and Maximus McMinn of Yukon; Aaron McLean of Mustang; Nicholas and Carston Williams of Wyoming and Cason Spitler of Amarillo; and two great-great granddaughters, Zoe Williams of Wyoming and Carlee Spitler of Amarillo; bonus daughter-in-law, Barbara Conway of Panhandle; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews; and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Five Points Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Amarillo for caring for our Granny the past four years.
