Virginia Ferguson Gooch

Virginia Ferguson Gooch, 95, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2024 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Mobeetie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 6:00-7:30 PM.

Virginia was born October 12, 1928 in Mobeetie to James and Maudie Futch. She graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1945. In 1946, she married Alvin “Big Al” Ferguson. They moved to Pampa in 1946 and started their family in Pampa. Alvin passed away in 1980 after celebrating 34 years of marriage. In 1987, she married Lloyd Gooch, he passed away in 2005. While she was married to Lloyd, they enjoyed traveling in their camper, especially during the winter months to south Texas. Virginia worked as a rural route mail carrier for over 20 years. 

Virginia loved the Lord and served faithfully. Early on in her life, she was a member of the Nazarene Church where she started teaching Sunday School. She continued teaching throughout the years as she moved to different churches. Her most recent church being Central Baptist Church, she taught the senior Sunday School Class. Virginia was a kind person who loved her family. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Ginger; stepson, Bart Gooch; stepdaughter, Becky Fewell; granddaughter, Kebby Renea Foster; six sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her son, Al Ferguson, Jr. and wife Susan of Pampa; stepdaughter, Kim Davis of Houston; grandchildren, Clint Ferguson and wife Brandi of Boyd, Cal Ferguson and wife Becca of Pampa, Sara Jane Richison and husband Jason of Pampa, Seth Foster and wife Payton of Pampa, Marc Covalt of Pampa, Russ Gunter of Lake Jackson, Caleb Davis of Houston, Steven Fewell, and Cassie Feo; great grandchildren, Kelcei Hood and husband Mark, Cy Ferguson, Case Ferguson, Cade Ferguson and wife Taylor, Brock Ferguson, Flair Foster, Fallon Foster, Alee Jane Richison, Hayden Covalt, Jacob Covalt, Hayleigh Covalt, and Anslee Gunter; great great grandchildren, Paisley Ferguson, Colt Ferguson, and Westin Hood. 

Memorials can be sent to Meredith Court Assisted Living or Interim Hospice.
